Welcome to the second Jazzpac events guide for 2013, covering the period September to January 2014, and continuing a cracking year of top quality live jazz in the County.
Seven events to look forward to, four at Lincoln Drill Hall, two at the Terry O’Toole Theatre North Hykeham and one at the South Holland Centre, Spalding. We have deliberately included the first event of 2014 in order that you can book your tickets before, we believe, this young pianist/vocalist achieves the sort of stardom achieved by Jamie Cullum.
As well as bringing great quality live jazz to Lincolnshire, Jazzpac is also involved in a wide range of youth education work in the area. The first of which is a two-day short course aimed at young improvisers, based on small ensemble jazz ‘combo’ settings. This free to enter programme will be based at the Lincoln Minster School Recital Hall on 27th and 28th August and is open to all (under-19) young jazz musicians in the Lincoln area. Andrew Wood is the course leader email@example.com
Another larger education project launched this year is a regional initiative called ‘Miles Ahead’, directed by EMJAZZ and funded by Youth Music. The main centres of activity over the next 18 months are to be Lincolnshire and Derby with Zoe Rahman and Julian Joseph the respective appointed Artists-in-Residence. This project will provide opportunities for participation in both small and large ensembles for young people across the East Midlands. Jazzpac will be working alongside the Lincolnshire Music Service and involving both the ‘Jazz Vehicle’ and Boston Youth Jazz Orchestras. We hope you will begin to see the fruits of this work when we launch the JazzJam sessions in the Drill Hall café/bar, in the Autumn, prior to our main events.
You can now find out about all our activities, and those of our fellow promoters in the East Midlands, on the EMJAZZ website www.emjazz.co.uk We urge you to check the website out and, while you are at your computer, please take the time to let Angela Moore firstname.lastname@example.org have your email address so we can keep you updated with the local jazz news.
